Your state has reopened, to a greater or lesser extent. You may or may not – more likely not – have firm guidance from your state about necessary safety precautions. You might otherwise have to follow the none-too-clear, watered down, CDC recommendations that are subject to change at the drop of a hat.
You might have restrictions on how many patients you can have in the office at one time. Your team may or may not have come back, or perhaps there’s not enough work to justify bringing everyone back.
None of that matters.
What’s important now is to have the processes in place to maximize the value of every patient that walks through your door. Why? Because the odds are overwhelming that 1) you’ve had very little to no revenue for a few months, and 2) you’ll face another partial or complete shutdown later this year when the second wave of the virus flares up.
Maybe that second wave will happen in the fall, or maybe it’ll be the winter. Most likely, the second Covid-19 wave will co-occur with the next H1N1 outbreak.
Now is the time to make and stash every single dollar you can put your hands on. Thrive now, and prepare yourself and your practice to survive the next iteration of this pandemic.
Basically, you need to do everything in your power to put yourself in the position you wish you’d been in when this mess started. There’s no guarantee that there will be a third round of stimulus payments; as of this writing, one party seems to have lost its taste for spending huge amounts of money.
