Medical costs are no exception, yet research indicates that high-deductible plans are on the rise. In fact, consumerization of healthcare is expected to increase by just over 5% through 2025. The reason? Experts surmise that consumers are growing tired of having high medical costs tossed their way, and they’re actually taking action. They are spending more of their own money to get the care they need and want.

Because more patients will be spending their own money, they’re going to want a better experience. This is where your reputation as the best in the area for implants, comfort care, or same-day-service (you fill in the blank) along with your rockstar team (both front end and associates), AND your killer online presence become crucial. Now is the time to polish your online reputation to match your in-person visits.     

Teledentistry is here to stay...at least for now

If the pandemic taught us anything, it’s that people sometimes like to handle things at home, or remotely. And that includes teledentistry. Of course patients are returning to the office, but teledentistry options still remain popular. If our research proves true, a hybrid approach of in-person visits and telehealth visits may become the norm in 2022.

New technologies — because what New Year trend is complete without it?

It seems a staple in most, if not all, New Year trends — technology. Whether you love jumping into the next great thing, or wait for the craze to die down before adopting anything new, here are a few you’ll want to keep your eye on. 

CRMs — or Customer Relationship Management Systems. If you don’t already have one of these in use at your practice, you may want to consider getting one. CRMs help give you visibility into your patients’ records, cases, preferences, referral history, and so on. They can also help you segment marketing campaigns, personalize communications, and create a more pleasant experience all-around for your clientele. 

Appointment confirmation software is projected to grow 13% in the next five years — and because they automate the process, you free-up precious staff time, eliminate neglect or human errors, and many of these software offer patients the ability to make their own appointments which helps reduce cost and time-wasting no-shows.

If you’ve recently visited any website you’ve probably been greeted by Chatbots. They usually have a fun name and offer friendly advice or help you navigate the site. The best part? Research shows that up to 80% of routine dental questions can be answered by the bot. 24/7, 365 without you having to intervene. It’s roboting at its finest. It’s worth looking into if you’d like to be helpful to patients before they set foot in your office.

While these are just a handful of trends heading into 2022, they do provide a glimpse into what to expect, how to prepare, and what to look out for to ensure your dental practice continues to be a success.
